Short answer

In short: TiviMate

TiviMate is an IPTV player for Android TV, Firestick and Android TV boxes that is known for its clear TV guide and fast zapping behaviour. The basic version is free; Premium is a paid upgrade that adds recording and multi-view, among other things. You log in with the Xtream Codes or M3U details of your subscription, and the app does not run on Samsung, LG, iPhone or Windows.

Basic

What is TiviMate and who is it for?

TiviMate is not a provider and does not supply any channels itself. It is a playback program that loads the playlist from your IPTV subscription and presents it as a real TV guide.

One player, no subscription

Many people think that TiviMate itself offers TV channels. That’s not true. The app is empty until you add a playlist, for example the login details of your IPTV subscription. TiviMate then takes care of the presentation: channel list, TV guide, groups and quick zapping. An empty list or error code is usually in the login details or subscription, not in the app.

What TiviMate is strong at

The power of TiviMate lies in the TV guide: you can see what is on now and what will be on for each channel, just like with a cable decoder. If you mainly want films and series on demand with posters and descriptions, then this is suitable IPTV Smarters Pro often better; TiviMate is primarily a live TV player.

  • Quick zapping with the number or arrow pad of your remote control.
  • Clear EPG which neatly shows the program details of your provider.
  • Groups and search so that you can quickly find Canadian channels, sports or films in a large playlist.
  • Built for the remote control, so no touch interface that is clumsy on TV.

Devices

What devices does TiviMate work on?

TiviMate is an Android app. That determines exactly what it does and does not run on.

Compatible platforms: Android TV and supported streaming devices

TiviMate works on everything that runs Android TV or Google TV: televisions with Android TV built-in, Chromecast with Google TV, Nvidia Shield and separate Android TV boxes. Formuler boxes also run Android, although they provide their own app.

On the Amazon Firestick and Fire TV TiviMate also works, but the app is not in the Amazon Appstore. You install it via the Downloader app, after allowing apps from unknown sources.

Other platforms: choose a different compatible player

Samsung and LG Smart TVs running Tizen and webOS, no Android. TiviMate is not in the app store there. On those TVs, use Smart IPTV (SIPTV), Flix IPTV or IBO Player; that work with the same M3U link of your subscription.

iPhone and iPad: There is no TiviMate for iOS. For example, you can use IPTV Smarters from the App Store.

Windows and Mac: no TiviMate either. On a PC, use IPTV Smarters Pro for Windows or VLC with your M3U link. An Android emulator is technically possible, but is cumbersome for daily TV viewing.

You can find an overview of suitable apps per device in our guide IPTV apps.

Step by step

Install TiviMate and log in in 3 steps

All you need is your Android TV device or Firestick and the email with login details from Canadas IPTV. Don’t have a subscription yet? Request the 24-hour free trial first.

  1. 01

    Install TiviMate

On Android TV or Google TV, open the Google Play Store, search for TiviMate and install the app. On a Firestick or Fire TV, TiviMate is not in the App Store: install the Downloader app, allow apps from unknown sources for Downloader in the settings and download the TiviMate installation from the app’s official website.

  2. 02

    Add your Canadas IPTV playlist

Open TiviMate and choose Add Playlist. Select Xtream Codes and enter the server URL, username and password from your email. If you prefer an M3U link, choose Playlist URL and paste the full link. Give the playlist a name and confirm. Xtream Codes is preferred: the TV guide is usually included automatically.

  3. 03

Wait for loading and set the EPG

TiviMate now retrieves the channel list and program information; with a large playlist this takes a while. Under Settings > Playlists, check whether the EPG is active and select your local Canadian time zone. Mark your preferred channels as favourites and you’re done. Is something not working? Costs

TiviMate Free or Premium: What’s the Difference?

The free version is sufficient for testing. Whether Premium is worth it depends on the features you want to use.

What you get for free

In the free version you can add one playlist, watch live TV and use the TV guide. That’s enough to check whether you like the app and whether your subscription loads properly. Combine it with the free 24 hour trial of Canadas IPTV and you test without paying anything.

What TiviMate Premium adds

Premium is a paid upgrade that fully unlocks the app. The most important extras:

  • Multiple playlists side by side, useful if you use more than one subscription or a trial account.
  • Record from live TV to your device’s memory or a connected USB stick, including scheduled recordings.
  • Multi view: multiple channels on the screen at the same time, for example two sports matches.
  • Manage favourites and channels: hide, rename and put in your own order.
  • Backup and recovery of your settings, so that you don’t have to start over with a new box.

How much does TiviMate Premium cost?

You usually purchase premium via the separate TiviMate Companion app on an Android phone, logged in with the same Google account as on your TV device. The types of licences available and what they cost are determined by the app maker, and that may change. Check current options and price in the Companion app or the app store. These charges are separate from your IPTV subscription and go to the app maker, not to Canadas IPTV.

Set

Set up EPG, favourites, catch-up and recording

After logging in, you can get the most out of TiviMate with a few settings that you only have to do once.

Load and maintain TV guide (EPG).

If you log in with Xtream Codes, TiviMate will usually automatically retrieve the program data; a separate EPG link is usually not necessary. Below Settings > Playlists > your playlist > EPG you can see whether the source is active and set the update frequency, for example every 12 hours.

Does the guide remain empty? Press Update EPG and check that your device’s time zone is set to Canada; otherwise programmes appear shifted by hours.

Favorites and channel order

Press and hold the OK button on a channel and select Add to favourites. Your favourites appear as a separate group at the top of the list. With Premium you can also hide channels and determine the order yourself: Canadian channels at the top, sports below, the rest hidden.

Catch-up: watch programmes again

Channels with catch-up receive a look-back icon in the TV guide. In the guide, scroll left to a program that has already been and press OK. The provider determines how many days you can go back per channel.

Recording and multi-view (Premium)

Recording works via the TV guide: select a program and choose Record or Schedule recording. Set first Settings > Recording into the storage location; The internal memory on a Firestick is limited, so a USB stick via an OTG adapter is wise.

You can turn on multi-view via the menu while watching. Each additional image is an additional stream, and your subscription determines how many streams are allowed at the same time.

Problems

TiviMate not working: the most common causes

Most problems fall into one of these four categories. Go through them in this order.

Playlist not loading or code 401

One 401 error means "not authorized": the server does not recognize your login. This usually has one of two causes: a typo in username, password or server URL, or an expired subscription. Check the data from your email letter by letter, including capital letters and the port number in the URL. If you are unsure whether your subscription is still active, ask by email. A subscription does not renew automatically; You can order a new term by email, the prices are on the pricing page.

There is a channel list, but the EPG remains empty

Check that the EPG source is enabled in the playlist settings and force an update. If that doesn’t work, delete the playlist and add it again via Xtream Codes instead of M3U; the guide data will then be included automatically. Also check the date, time and time zone of your device.

Image stutters or buffers

Buffering is rarely due to TiviMate itself; usually it concerns WiFi range, an overloaded router or a slow box. Try a network cable and put it under Settings > Player the buffer size one step higher. A complete step-by-step plan can be found in our article Fix IPTV buffering. If several channels fail at the same time, please check our about page IPTV disruptions.

App does not start or hangs after an update

Clear TiviMate’s cache via your Android device’s app settings and restart the box. If that doesn’t help, make a backup (with Premium), delete the app and reinstall it. On a Firestick with little free memory, it also helps to delete unused apps.

Comparison

TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro?

Both apps work with Canadas IPTV credentials. The difference is in what they are good at.

Choose TiviMate if you mainly watch live TV

Do you zap a lot, do you want a TV guide that works as you would expect from a decoder, and do you watch on Android TV or Firestick? Then TiviMate is a good fit for you. The operation is completely focused on the remote control and with Premium you have recording and multi-view.

Choose IPTV Smarters Pro if you want flexibility

IPTV Smarters Pro runs on more types of devices, including iPhone, iPad, Windows and Android, and shows films and series clearly with posters and descriptions. If you have a mixed household with, for example, an iPhone, a laptop and a Firestick, you can use the same app everywhere with Smarters. You don’t have to choose: your Canadas IPTV login works in both.

Send a question
How does TiviMate work?
TiviMate is a player that loads the playlist from your IPTV subscription and shows it as a TV guide. You add your Xtream Codes or M3U data once, after which the app retrieves the channel list and program data. Then you zap through the guide with the remote control, add your favourites and watch programmes where your provider provides catch-up.
Is TiviMate free?
The basic version is free and offers one playlist, live TV and the TV guide. Premium is a paid upgrade with extras such as multiple playlists, recording, multi-view and channel management. Testing is therefore possible without costs, especially in combination with the free 24 hour trial of Canadas IPTV.
How much does a TiviMate IPTV player cost?
The app itself can be downloaded for free. You can usually purchase TiviMate Premium via the TiviMate Companion app on an Android phone. You can see the current licence types and price in that app or the app store; that can change. You also need an IPTV subscription; at Canadas IPTV it costs 15.99 CAD for 1 month, 69.99 CAD for 12 months or 99.99 CAD for 24 months.
Why does TiviMate stop working?
Usually the subscription has expired or the login details have changed, which is reflected in an empty channel list or code 401. First check your login and the status of your subscription. Other causes: a temporary outage at the provider, a full cache after an app update or a network problem. See our about page IPTV disruptions for a step-by-step plan.
Is TiviMate available on PC?
No, TiviMate only exists for Android TV, Google TV and Fire TV. There is no version for Windows or Mac. On a PC you use IPTV Smarters Pro for Windows or VLC with the M3U link of your subscription. An Android emulator works technically, but is cumbersome and not intended for daily TV viewing.
Is there a better app than TiviMate?
That depends on your device and viewing behaviour. For live TV on Android TV or Firestick, TiviMate is a strong choice. If you watch on iPhone or Windows, IPTV Smarters Pro is a practical choice. On Samsung and LG you use apps such as Smart IPTV, Flix IPTV or IBO Player. All the apps mentioned work with Canadas IPTV login.
Does TiviMate work on a Firestick?
Yes. TiviMate is not in the Amazon Appstore, but you install it via the Downloader app after allowing apps from unknown sources. After that, the app works exactly as it does on Android TV. Please note the limited memory of a Firestick: delete unused apps and use a USB stick via an OTG adapter for recording.
Can I use TiviMate on multiple devices?
You can install the app on multiple devices; your subscription determines how many screens you watch at the same time. A standard subscription from Canadas IPTV is for one screen at a time; If you want to watch on two, three or four screens at the same time, choose a 12-month multi-screen subscription via the pricing page.

A PRACTICAL CHECKLIST

Test the basics first, then set your preferences

Add the received playlist or server information and wait for the channels to load. First check whether one channel plays properly. Then set up favourites and the TV guide, so that you do not confuse an input problem with an operation setting.

If the TV guide is empty while channels are playing, check the EPG settings and the information provided by your provider. Functions such as review and recording depend on more than just a button in the player.

Check app prices and licensing terms directly with the official TiviMate provider. Never share a full playlist link publicly. If you have any problems, use the exact error message and your device and app version to ask for help.
