Short answer

In short: Best IPTV app

The best IPTV app is the player that works well on your device: TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro on Android TV and Firestick, Smart IPTV (SIPTV), Flix IPTV or IBO Player on a Samsung or LG TV, IPTV Smarters on iPhone and Apple TV, and IPTV Smarters or VLC on Windows and Mac. An app is only a player: the channels come from your subscription, via Xtream Codes or M3U.

Per device

Which IPTV app suits your device?

Not every IPTV player runs on every device. So start with your device and then choose the app.

Android TV, Google TV and Firestick: TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro

You have the most choice on an Android TV box, Google TV or Amazon Firestick. Two apps that are often recommended are TiviMate and IPTV Smarters Pro.

TiviMate is made for the large TV and feels like a real TV receiver: a sleek TV guide, fast zapping, favourites lists and recording (with Premium). The free version is limited; You get all the features with TiviMate Premium, a paid upgrade from the app maker. Check the current price and conditions in the app or the app store.

IPTV Smarters Pro is basically free (check the app store for paid options) and is particularly strong in films and series on demand, with a clear menu for live TV, films and series. A good first choice if you want to get started without any hassle.

Samsung and LG Smart TV: Smart IPTV, Flix IPTV and IBO Player

A Samsung (Tizen) or LG (webOS) TV does not run Android apps, including TiviMate, and IPTV Smarters Pro is not always available in the app store. You use an app from the app store of the TV itself, for example Smart IPTV (SIPTV), Flix IPTV or IBO Player. The apps you can install vary by model and region.

These apps work largely the same: you install the app, the app displays a MAC address, and on the app’s website you link your subscription to that address. Then your channels appear on the TV.

Please note: these apps are usually free to try for a limited period and then usually require a one-time activation fee per TV; check that on the app’s site. Are you specifically looking for IPTV on a Samsung TV, then Smart IPTV is one of the best-known options; Flix IPTV and IBO Player have a slightly more modern interface.

iPhone, iPad and Apple TV

On iPhone and iPad it is IPTV Smarters a commonly used app; on Apple TV you can find the same or similar players in the App Store. You log in with Xtream Codes or an M3U link and have live TV, films, series and the TV guide in your pocket.

That’s nice for on the road; for daily TV viewing, an Apple TV, Android TV box or Smart TV is more comfortable. If you watch on multiple devices at the same time, you need a multi-screen subscription.

Windows and Mac: IPTV Smarters or VLC

Are you looking for one? IPTV player for Windows, then you have two practical options. IPTV Smarters for Windows (also for Mac) offers the same format as on TV: live TV, films, series and EPG, with Xtream Codes login.

VLC Media Player is free, is often already on your computer and plays an M3U link via Media > Open network stream. You will miss a TV guide and catch-up, and zapping will be less smooth. VLC is enough for occasional viewing on your laptop; for daily use, a real IPTV app is better.

Xtream Codes or M3U: what’s the difference?

With almost every IPTV app you choose between Xtream Codes and an M3U link when logging in. Both provide access to the same subscription, but work differently.

Xtream Codes: username, password and server URL

With XtreamCodes (also called Xtream IPTV or Xtream API) you log in with three details: server URL, username and password. The app then retrieves the channel list, TV guide, films, series and catch-up from the server.

This is the recommended way: everything will be updated automatically and shown neatly in categories. TiviMate, IPTV Smarters Pro, Flix IPTV and IBO Player all support Xtream Codes.

M3U link: one URL with everything in it

One M3U link is a web address that points to your subscription’s playlist. The app reads that list and shows the channels; For the TV guide you usually paste a separate EPG URL.

Useful for apps without Xtream Codes, such as VLC and Smart IPTV (SIPTV). Disadvantage: films, series and catch-up are less clear.

Which one should you choose?

Does your app support Xtream Codes, use that. Grab the M3U link only if the app won’t accept anything else. Bee Canadas IPTV you get both with your subscription, so you are never stuck with one app and can switch later without any problems.

Step by step

Watch in three steps with your IPTV app

Whichever app you choose, the route is always the same.

  1. 01

    Choose and install an app

Download the app that suits your device: TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro on Android TV and Firestick, Smart IPTV, Flix IPTV or IBO Player on Samsung and LG, IPTV Smarters on iPhone, Apple TV and Windows.

  2. 02

    Log in with your subscription

Enter the Xtream Codes details from your email (server URL, username, password) or paste the M3U link. With Smart TV apps, you link the subscription to the MAC address of the TV.

  3. 03

Load the TV guide and watch

Wait until the channel list and EPG are loaded, put your favourite channels at the top and start watching. If something gets stuck, our English-language support will help by email.

Selection criteria

What do you pay attention to with an IPTV player?

The best IPTV player is not the app with the most buttons, but the app that suits your viewing behaviour. These five points make the difference.

TV guide (EPG) and catch-up

A good one TV guide shows what is now and will be on each channel, with the progress of the current program. TiviMate is mainly known for this; Smarters and the Smart TV apps also show the guide fine if the EPG has been loaded correctly.

Catch up means that you watch programmes from the past few days. That only works if both your subscription and your app support it; This is often easiest via Xtream Codes.

Multi-screen and multiple devices

Installing an app on two devices is possible, but… watch at the same time on multiple screens requires a subscription with multiple connections. With Canadas IPTV you can choose from 2 devices simultaneously (89.99 CAD), 3 devices (119.99 CAD) or 4 devices (149.99 CAD) for 12 months. If you watch alone, the standard subscription is sufficient.

Ease of use and operation

On a TV you control everything with the remote control, so the app must respond quickly and zap logically. Pay attention to channel-switching speed, favourites lists and how easily you search through films and series. A day of testing says more than any review: start the free 24 hour trial and try two apps side by side.

Cost of the app

The app costs are on top of your subscription. Roughly speaking: VLC is free, IPTV Smarters Pro is basically free, TiviMate requires a paid Premium upgrade for all functions, and Smart TV apps usually charge a one-time fee per TV after the trial period. Check the current prices in the app store or on the app’s website; We deliberately do not mention amounts because they change.

Important

An IPTV app is only a player

Many people download an app and expect to see channels immediately. It doesn’t work that way.

No channels without a subscription

An IPTV app can be compared to an empty TV receiver: it can show an image, but contains itself no transmitter. The content comes from your IPTV provider, who gives you access with Xtream Codes or an M3U link. Without a subscription, every app remains empty, no matter how good it is.

This is how Canadas IPTV works in every app

Order through our support team, receive payment details by email and pay via bank transfer. Immediately after you send us your proof of payment, you will receive your login details and an installation link by email: Xtream Codes and an M3U link. You fill this in with the app of your choice; the app itself is a separate product from another maker. The subscription includes live TV with Canadian channels, sports, films and series on demand. no ongoing contract and no automatic renewal: you pay once in advance for a fixed term that expires automatically.

The installation is explained step by step for each device installation page. If you want more comfort on a Samsung or LG TV, then get a separate one IPTV box with TiviMate often the better investment.

IPTV Smarters Pro is a widely used player that you can use for free, with live TV, films, series, TV guide and Xtream Codes login; check the app store for paid options. Yes. IPTV Smarters for Windows is basically free and gives you live TV, films, series and a TV guide with Xtream Codes login. VLC Media Player is also free and opens an M3U link via Media > Open Network Stream, but lacks TV guide and catch-up. For daily use we recommend IPTV Smarters.

A PRACTICAL CHECKLIST

Compare a player by usage, not just by name

Check the official app store to see if your exact device is supported. Look at the publisher, any app fees and the way your account information is entered. Don’t download an unknown copy because the name resembles a well-known player.

Use the same player for your test that you want to watch later. Test the remote control, favourites, subtitles and the TV guide. Functions such as replay depend partly on what the service offers for the broadcast in question.

Keep account information private. A full M3U link can include a username and password. If you have any problems, send the app name and error message to support, and remove secret data from screenshots.
